“The Law of Attraction” – Dead on Arrival (DOA)

Law of Attraction

Self-Improvement is big business. It is amazing how many articles are written promising people quick answers to their life issues. Just yesterday I received an email saying that in 2 simple steps you can implement what “The Secret” did not tell you. Do you wonder, as I do, if it really is that simple. There is the saying that if it is too good to be true you have to be skeptical. The same goes also for self-help books and come-ons. Why would there be so many books out there if there truly is a simple answer?

These books however do serve an important purpose. They reinforce the idea that people have the potential to take charge of their lives and make their lives better. It puts the responsibility back on the individual to “grow” and look for solutions by offering some solutions. The message generally is that by taking charge of life all kinds of things which seem impossible become possible.

For example, I have a friend whose higher self sends him on “treasure hunts.” Sometimes he will hear his inner self say, “turn right here,” and he does. This past summer he was driving down the freeway when he was directed to exit the freeway and drive into a parking lot at Walmart after closing hours.

“Now what?” he asked, sitting alone in his car in an empty parking lot. (These kinds of things happened to him many times and he had learned to be amused by it.)

“Look to your right,” he “heard.” He went outside and found a CD player with several CDs in it. The music and lyrics on a couple of the CDs struck a chord in him.

She is able to say “I am not even sure how best to redefine the concept of what is and what isn’t healthy, but I hope that such definition will underscore that the presence of illness isn’t nearly as important as one’s ability to overcome it.” Her illness is something she lives with constantly but it is not what defines her. She has understood that the answer on how she dealt with her illness was within her. She exemplifies someone who has developed strong emotional fitness.

If you continue on this process (of listening, following through and seeing results), you will come to a point where you will begin to trust this inner connection more than anyone or anything outside of yourself. And it’s not that you will disregard other people’s opinions. It’s that will you take other people’s opinions into consideration and weigh everything against your own understanding (that is more and more informed by your higher self’s perspective). In other words, your confidence in your higher self will grow, your confidence in yourself will grow.

This self confidence will then attract to you the people, the events, and the things that are more in line with who you really are, that are in line with your soul’s plan, that are in line with your original blueprint for success. This is the true Law of Attraction
